How to choose a dock for this model
- Match the host standard. Start with the actual Thunderbolt, USB4 or USB-C DisplayPort capability above rather than the connector shape.
- Check your display requirement. Monitor count, resolution and refresh rate must fit both the laptop and dock.

What is specific to the original Surface Laptop Studio?
Microsoft lists the original Surface Laptop Studio with two USB-C ports using USB4/Thunderbolt 4. For direct external displays, Microsoft publishes a single-display ceiling of 5120×2880 at 120Hz (or 4096×2304 at 60Hz), while dual displays are listed up to 4096×2304 at 60Hz each.
That is a useful distinction from Surface Laptop Studio 2: the second generation raises the published single-display ceiling to 5120×3200 at 120Hz, even though both generations retain the same published dual-display ceiling. This page therefore remains separate because the boundary conditions are not identical.
